Description

Material List: Each person will need to have their own chess set and board. If you don't already, I'll be happy to provide information as to where you can get your equipment and some input on types of chess sets.

No knowledge of the game is needed; we'll start from square one! You'll learn the names of the pieces and how to set them up on the chess board. After going over the rules of chess we'll practice with each other...a lot! As you learn more and get comfortable, we'll go over some basic tactics and strategy. And because the only way to get better and really enjoy the game is to play, we'll spend a lot of our time playing and learning as we go.

Instructor Bio: I've played and enjoyed chess most of my life. When I had children in elementary school, I coordinated a scholastic chess club and hosted/coordinated several inter-scholastic chess tournaments. While I'm certainly no Grand Master, I love to play chess and look forward to passing that along to new players.
