Description

Explore the world of acting, escape into other characters, build performance and presentation skills and play a little! Acting class will broaden your horizons with scene work and improv exercises designed to ignite your creativity and grow confidence in a new way. The class will explore the basics of acting technique focusing on communication, authenticity, physicality, humor, vulnerability, and passion. The class is open to high school students and above. Very little experience is necessary. Bring yourselves and a sense of openness.

Julie Fitzpatrick is an accomplished actor, writer, and teaching artist whose work spans Off-Broadway, Off-Off Broadway, regional theater, and film/television. She has performed with companies including Ensemble Studio Theatre, Ma-Yi Theater Company, The Playwrights Realm, and TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, among many others. More recently, she has appeared with Moses Gunn Play Company, Legacy Theatre, and GreenStage Guilford.

Her screen credits include appearances on Law & Order and The OA, as well as several independent film projects. Julie holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MFA from the American Conservatory Theater.

In addition to acting, Julie is an active writer and educator. Her solo play *77 U-Turn* is published by Next Stage Press, and her poetry collection *Church on the Screen: A Sunday Series of Pandemic Poetry* is available through Breakwater Books. She is a member of the Guilford Poets’ Guild, the Connecticut Theatre Women Network, and Ensemble Studio Theatre.

A dedicated teaching artist, Julie has taught and directed with numerous schools and arts organizations across Connecticut. She currently teaches acting and solo performance, continuing her commitment to mentoring emerging artists. She lives in Connecticut with her husband and their three sons.
