UKULELE FOR BEGINNERS – YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS HERE!

Ukulele players are popping up everywhere! Want to be one? Here’s your chance to learn how to play this wonderfully versatile, go-anywhere, instrument in a relaxed program taught with humor by our popular instructor, Duncan Perry. He will introduce you to essential chording and playing skills using familiar songs. And did you know that playing the uke is not only a stress buster and fun but it’s also good for your brain! The uke is a musical powerhouse on which you can play rock, folk, country, blues, jazz, classical – nearly any style, and, of course, the tunes that grandma and grandpa know. Will you be recruited to perform at Carnegie Hall? Well, not right away…. But, as the saying goes, ‘The best player isn’t the person with the greatest technical skill. It’s the person who can touch the most hearts.’ Once you master the basics, you won't want to stop. You’re never too old to launch this healthful and fun-filled musical adventure! Students will need a playable ukulele tuned to GCEA, Zoom-friendly technology, a sense of humor, plus lots of enthusiasm!

BIO: Duncan is multi-instrumentalist who has been performing and teaching folks how play the ukulele for the last 18 years. In that time, he has taught more than 1,000 people to play the mighty uke. Having also served as a volunteer music therapist in medical and hospice settings, he knows that music is medicine. His mission is to share the joy of ukulele with learners and audiences alike.
