Description
The Entrelac cowl looks as if it’s braided but it’s not. It looks as if it’s knit in the round but it’s not. The effect is achieved by knitting regular knit and purl short rows which are connected uniquely to form the cowl shape as you go. By using variegated yarn with long color repeats, the braided effect is enhanced. Learn short row knitting and how to pick up stitches if you haven’t done that technique before. Also learn to knit backwards (actually purling from the “right” or knit side of the work). Easy project for experienced beginners. Pattern will be provided.
Materials List: 600 yards of a variegated yarn with a long color repeat in worsted weight #4 (ex. Red Heart “Unforgettable”, Lion Brand “Landscape”, Caron “Simply Soft Paints”, Loops and Threads “Facets”); US size #6 (4 mm) 24” (60 cm) long circular knitting needle; stitch markers (at least 14); yarn needle.
